Thanks for the Cow
Today Xander had a little lesson in being grateful. We went to dinner tonight at a pizza buffet with games and TVs and all you can eat pizza, it was fun and we got full. When we were done eating I took Cassidy and headed to the car. A white jeep with cow spots passed by us as we were walking into the parking lot( it was a big Wal-Mart parking lot). When Cassidy and I had reached the car a man walks up to us and gives Cassidy a little bag with a toy inside (the kind that you would get in a happy meal). Upon further inspection I recognized it as being a Chick-fil-A cow. The man also gave me a coupon for a free kids meal at a Chick-fil-a. I was a bit surprised at his gesture, but Cassidy seemed to love it. When I opened the plastic for her she yelled out "HORSEY." Xander ,Sarah, and Rachel hadn't quite made it to the car yet. I thanked the man for the gift and had Cass do the same. As he left he saw Sarah walking toward me an kind of peered around the cars abit. When he realized that there was another child he went back to his car and got another cow and another coupon card. He then came back and gave it to Xander. As he was handing it to Xander, Xander took the toy and snatched the coupon out of the man's hands and half mumbled half growled something that might have been a GGRRThannnkkkssss. Rachel thanked the man and tried to get Xander to do the same but in the proper tone. Sarah and I were on the other side of the car and when we saw what had happened became a bit embarrassed. We decided to get Xander to write the man a note thanking him for the gift and to apologize to him. So Sarah found some paper and had him slowly and painfully write the generous man a note saying just that and then he signed it. As Sarah gave it to me to put it on the man's car, she was almost in tears for how it affected her seeing Xander write that note.(all I have ever seen him write is his name) I just hope that next time someone does something nice for him he will remember this and be a little nicer and appreciative to them.
